My bro is trying to schedule appointment at Calgary, AB consulate for visitor visa thru nvars.com. And it says their are no appointments for month of Sept., and Oct. When he tries to look in Nov., system says you can only schedule appointments upto 8 weeks only.
I guess is this what you have also expereienced lately in similar situation?

No its not true.
Please do not rely on Indian Media for immigration news.
They have covered their bases by putting "May" in the headline. "May" increase visas.
There is already a discussion that happened about this on another thread. Please search the forums for the article before starting a new thread.
And for heaven's sake, please dont look for immigration related news in Indian Newspapers. They dont know that congress has two chambers : House and Senate. And they dont know the common basics of legislative process in USA.

Some where I read that there is no fee for renewal of AP. I am a Jul 07 filer and am not sure about this. Further already applied last year for Advance parole and traveled once. it got expired last month. I am applying for a new one again. So just wanted to know if I need to pay the fees $305.
So my questions are:
Does July 07 filers need to send the cheque for $305 for AP renewal. (My I 485 Reciept Date is Aug 2007)
Should we also include Biometric fee of $80?
And how much time approx is it taking these days for AP?

vengaiah: Fill the I-9 form and send it to your company B with a copy of your EAD, fill in the direct deposit form ( or take cash :) ) and you are good to go.
You will have submit a new I-9 with a copy of your EAD to your company A - as your will status will be "Pending AOS" from the moment you start working for company B using EAD and You are no longer in non-immigrant status (H1B).

HI,
I am on F-1 visa since Jan 2007. and got started my OPT in August 2009. I have on campus income through out the year in 2009. so how do I file the taxes, n which forms. for tax return 2009.
also I got married to a F-1 student in Jan 2009. She is also having her OPT started in August 2009. She has income only on OPT (from Aug to Dec 2009) so which forms she should also file.
my wife did paid her college fee in Jan 2009. and we have paid the rent through checks on leased apt.
So can she/we ask for deduction of any kind?
also which status we have to fill in. "Married filing jointly/separately".
please reply as soon as possible.

If both of you having 1098 forms from school you can file for Hope-credit (each gets $2500 credit, thats huge amount :) ). You cannot show the Apt. on tax form.

Nope, 140 was approved in 2006. 485 applied July 19th, 2007. Looks like a mistake on USCIS part.
Did you filed 140 & 485 concurrently?? this is also one of the uscis check that you shouldn't filed be concurrently...

Whichever status was approved the LATEST, that is the status you are in now. If H-1B status change was approved AFTER F-1 status was granted, then normally you are on H-1B status.

Hello,
I am one of those cases where no one can get my name right. This time my visa stamp has an FNU against my first name.
I have a valid SSN, valid California DL and a valid California marriage certificate. The I-797 is not a blanket petition. It has my name as I wish it to be. I used my I-797 to get my DL couple of years back.
The question is, will the FNU create any problems at the port of entry? Will it create problems when I renew my H1-B later this year?
How would I enter my name on the I-94? As on the petition or as on the visa?

hi,
I am planning to extend the visitor visa for my mom for another two months.
Her current I94 expires on June 25th and At POE the officer told her that she must go back after 6 months.
If I apply for extension of her visa and in case she does not get any result before current I-94 expiry date, is it wise to stay on or leave US in order to avoid overstays?
2.What happens if she gets a rejection before her current I94 expiry, will she need leave earlier and apply for new visitor visa?

My case is a bit different.
I have a 485 filed by a company for future employment.
Right now my Priority date became current for my current employer and that labor and I140 are approved.
So can we file multiple 485's with USCIS or do we need to cancel the other 485 to file new 485 with my current employer.
