difficult to classify which company are good or bad, based on each one experience or interest they may like or may not like the company. some struck in a company due to retrogression too. if you are planning to switch company, decide based on your interest/family situation and see whether your future job can give you those. get help from your friends/jobsites like dice.com/monster.com/careerbuilder.com/hotjobs.com to see the job oppurtunities.....good luck.

I believe there are very few left before April 1st 2004. EB2 I was stuck at April 1st 2004 for a long time and never moved from that date (excluding 2-3 times for a month or two when2006 people got approved). There will be lot of people from first half of 2004.

Painter 7 like Painter 6 should have come with a manual. The one I got with 6.0 is very extensive and well formated to teaching the programs finer aspects.
if you bought it and didn't get a manual.. I'd complain. If you didn't buy it.. you'll probebly have to slug through it and learn as you discover stuff. Painter itself is not really a well documented programs as these things go. I've never seen a book that details it yet.
I will be stopping by B&N in the next couple of days. I'll be sure to take a look on the shelf to see if there is anything around that might help you out.

Regarding Visa Camp, Chicago consulate's website says:
Applications from only US Passport holders will be accepted at the Visa Camps. No other consular service except visa will be provided at the Visa Camps.
Of course, if they have incomplete information on their website - this might be untrue and they might allow renewal of passports as well.
In any case, it seems to me that the expiration date on the passport should not be a huge concern for getting the H1B approved.

They need to have EAD with no expiry. There is no reason for the EAD to expire except getting your GC. Same for AP.
How about getting DENIED a green card? That's the whole idea of having expiration on EAD - so that people can't extend after they have been denied. And getting the money, too. EAD fees are #1 money makers for USCIS.

from my understanding it wil start right away.. which means we will loose some time overlapping between the EAD's.
I think it starts after expiry of first one. ( all other things work this way, why different rule for EAD?)

Hey arnet! I am having the same problem. I filed for EAD renewal and then I got my card the other day, but problem is they gave me the same expiration date w/c is Jan. 2007. I called the 1-800# 4 times the day after I got my new card to let them know of the error. I never felt so disappointed and frustrated in my whole life! The first 3 representative I spoke could not tell me anything but "sorry we can't do anything about that". One of them even told me to go to the USCIS where I had my biometrics taken.. and that was 5 hours drive from where I live. I was so pissed. Then I tried to call again that same day just to see if there's anyone in their customer service who has some sense to tell me. And luckily a lady answered and she told me to fill out another I-767 form and send it to the service center who approved my case without the filing fee. That is if it's their fault, they're going to waive the fee.
The only thing that gets to me is, we put our trust in these people to do their part.. because we do. We pay our taxes, we pay for all these filing fees, we do not violate their country.. we're just here to work. Yet after all the waiting that we do, all the hoping, all the sacrifices..this is all we get. A MISTAKE on our IDs.
I filled out a new EAD application, made copies of all the notices I received from them regarding this application...and I even wrote a damn letter just to explain what happened. I'm in so much pressure right now because I need to have my new card as soon as possible... I am due for renewal of my driver's license. If I can't have that card by the end of this year, I am doomed! I will lose my license and my job. Thanks to them! :mad:
This is one good reason I support the person who posted on another thread that one keeps status in H1B and not work with EAD. I an not trying to justify the USCIS mess up but if you have the option to keep extending H1 until you get GC, please do so.

I think it has to be either you or your lawyer. No third party should get any communication from USCIS. So I guess you'll get it - if at all they send it back.

* Today, the Senate also passed this bill by agreeing to the House H.R. 2638 which the House paased earlier. Here is the vote count. This bill now goes to the President for his signature. The President is expected to sign all of these bills, including Consolidated Continuing Appropriation, Reauthorizations of Non-Miniter Religious Worker Special Immigration, and Conrad 30 International Medical Graduates National Interest Waiver bills before October 1, Wednesday. Otherwise, the federal government is destined to shut down and the immigration reauthorization laws will sunset and gone. The President is anticipated to sign these bills by September 30, 2008.
* Sad part is that the immigration reauthorization is valid only until March 6, 2009 just as the continuing appropriation act. Still, it is a good news in that most of the pending I-360 non-minister religious worker immigration petitions, Conrad-30 based I-140 petitions, and EB-485 applications related to these petitions are likely taken care of before March 6, 2009. The USCIS is currently holding in abeyance these petitions and related EB-485 applications pending the Congressional action. Since the Congress has now cleared the path, as soon as the President signs the bills, the USCIS is likely to pick up these petitions and 485 applications swiftly. Unfortunately, the Conrad 30 based EB-485 for Indians and Chinese may still have to deal with the visa number retrogressions in October 2008 Visa Bulletin. That's correct. I clarified it with my attorney in past. Primary applicant has to maintain H-1 status to support H-4 for the spouse and he cannot use EAD to work.

Folks,
We need to understand that we have chosen a tough but worthy effort in the form of this forum. As such it may be depressing to see the slow movement in DC.
We should not be setting ourselves some timelines like the ones stated in this email thread, and then feel depressed about seeing no positive results within that timeline...there are too many factors outside our control to do anything like that...
I think we are better off than we where we were last year, when the awareness was nil, and that backlog legislation only favored the RNs and the PTs, while we saw ourselves powerless...
Lets help the core team..and not get depressed over short timelines...I see light at the end of our efforts...may not be phenomenal..but I am sure it will make a difference...for each of us...

Anyway to OP: ask your lawyer to apply, you should not face any problems getting it.

Company A sponsored my GC (PERM & 140 Approved) and soon after 180 day wait period had passed, I moved to company B and started working on EAD.
Now, company B is going to be merged with Company C. Then what will be my status? Do I need to do any thing to keep my GC process alive?

I choosed the option "receipts not received", reached level 1 support, got transferred to level 2 - CSR checked the status of SR and told me that it takes 45 days to resolve these kind of issue and me/my (both) attorney on record will get the duplicate notice; and asked me to check after a week.

Please share if you have any progress on your SR or receiving the receipts. I am trying to call USCIS to check the status on the SR, but could not reach them. Now they have a dummy menu system, which keeps on looping when you select the option for receipts not received.
